Dr Amber Taylor
Hello, I'm Amber, mother of two, avid knitter, a very-slow runner and a HCPC registered Clinical Psychologist. Having worked in the NHS for over 12 years, I currently work in private practice alongside my role as a clinical tutor on a clinical psychology doctoral programme.
Throughout my career, I have worked across the lifespan to improve wellbeing for children, young people, families and working age adults across a range of settings including paediatric services, schools, mental health teams (both acute crisis and community) and physical health settings (including neurorehabilitation, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and chronic pain services).
Alongside my doctorate in Clinical Psychology I have completed further training in Family and Systemic Therapy and other therapeutic approaches including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Compassion Focussed Therapy. I also hold a qualification in supervising the clinical practice of others. Being able to draw on a range of evidence-based psychological approaches and interventions ensures that we can work flexibly to help you reach your goals.
I have a specialist interest in supporting individuals experiencing anxiety and who might need support adjusting to a change, either to their health or life more generally. I am also passionate about increasing access to psychological therapies for neurodiverse individuals and endeavour to work creatively and collaboratively to help you get the most from our sessions.
I am experienced in supporting with a wide range of mental health difficulties including;
-
Anxiety (including panic attacks and intrusive thoughts)
-
Low-mood
-
Trauma.
-
Transitional challenges including difficulties attending school, adjusting to a newly diagnosed, or pre-existing, health condition or bereavement and loss.
-
Understanding behaviours that challenge.
-
Anger difficulties
-
Stress and worry.
I know how hard it can be seeking support and finding the right person to help. I strive to build a safe, warm and nurturing environment for you and will invest in getting to know your unique skills and qualities...of which I'm sure there are many. I’m happy to arrange a brief call to see if I might be a good fit for you and if I’m not, I will always do my best to link you in with the right support.
I currently have online availability Monday-Wednesday (9am-5pm) and in person availability from a clinic in Hexham, Northumberland.
